For fun (along with other hobbies), Stephanie times herself solving Rubik's cubes. Her best speedcubing time is around a minute, which takes reading a scramble on sight and knowing which sequence wastes the fewest moves. Brute force is inefficient. She brings that same mentality to her work: the world's information is messy and sometimes hidden. Unlocking it takes a robust, methodical path.
Speedcubers don't get fast by guessing; they learn algorithms, frameworks for knowing exactly which move to deploy in which situation. Stephanie thinks about data the same way: when to reach for logistic versus linear regression, how to guard against overfitting or p-hacking, how to read a confusion matrix. She meticulously researches and develops repeatable processes for capturing information accurately instead of leaving it to chance.
With over a decade of experience in data analytics and visualization, Stephanie uses her left-brain skills to optimize business performance as a consultant. And she uses her right-brain skills to paint watercolors, play the ukulele, and read up on feminist theory.
In both work and life, Stephanie’s passion is taking information and finding interesting patterns in it—whether that means providing custom analytics for a Fortune 50 Financial Services Firm or just visualizing her husband’s Goodreads data for him.
Born and raised in Texas, Stephanie has a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Finance from New York University, as well as an MBA from Columbia Business School. As a data consultant, she’s worked in healthcare, banking, and finance at various companies.
